{Lands and Resources}
Before non-Native people arrived Sliammon had a sophisticated system of land and resource management that ensured that no resources were overused. Fish, Forests, and Lands all hold spiritual, cultural, and economic values for Sliammon people, the key to proper management is to balance these values in land and resource planning.
Moving from stage four to stage five of the BC Treaty Process has expanded the scope of work on lands and resources. In addition to research and analysis to support treaty negotiations, our work includes planning and capacity building in the area of lands and resources management.
Current Treaty Staff working on lands and resources issues include:
Denise Smith, Fisheries Coordinator Michelle Washington, Land Use Planning Coordinator Karen Galligos, Community Researcher - Transcriber
Laura Roddan, Pre-Implementation Manager
